Capri-Sun Sunrise Review & Giveaway!

29 Apr

This Giveaway is now closed, and the winner has been announced.

This is a compensated review & giveaway from BlogHer and Capri-Sun

I’m a mom, a wife, a daughter, a business owner… I’m busy. So are you. Mornings are, well, difficult I suppose is the word.

Here’s what we do. I get up at 6am to be able to have my coffee and some morning quiet time. I am NOT a morning person. If I don’t have that hour or so before the rest of the house, I get very very grumpy. Then, around 7am I wake the kids up. They know the routine. Into the dining room for breakfast, brush teeth, wash face, feed and water the cats, get dressed, clean up rooms, and make their beds. Then they can do whatever they’d like before going to school. It’s taken a long time to come up with a routine. We’re still working out the kinks.

For example, if the laundry’s not put away – then where are the clothes? Homework didn’t get put away the night before – where’s that? Where’s the lunchbox so it can be packed? Not to mention if, God forbid, one of the kids gets up on the wrong side of the bed.

But the kids always eat breakfast – and that’s where this review and giveaway come into play.

The good folks at BlogHer asked for a review and for me to giveaway money. How could I refuse that?!

So… Per my regular review format, here we go…

EQUATION: I received the new product from Capri-Sun in three varieties to try – well, for my kids to try. They tried the Orange Wake Up and Berry Tangerine Morning.

Capri Sun Sunrise ~ Making Every Day Better
Capri Sun Sunrise is the new, wholesome morning drink for kids chock full of Vitamin C and calcium.

  • A good source of calcium
  • 100% Daily Value Vitamin C
  • The pouch kids love

It comes in three flavors: Orange Wake Up, Tropical Morning, Berry Tangerine Morning

PLUS: Well – aside from all the vitamins and all that good for you stuff… My kids LOVED it. I tried to get descriptions from them other than “good” but all I got out of them is, “It’s very Orangy!” They’re only 6 & 9 so I’ll give them some slack. But I suppose the biggest praise of all was, “Can we please please please have it in snack tomorrow?”

MINUS: We’ve been using the Capri-Sun products for a long time, and I really trust the brand. But, it’s still a packaged juice, as opposed to completely fresh do-it-yourself. But since I’ve never made juice in my life, that’s not a big minus for me. Although I suppose it should be? But it is 100% juice, and they have Green initiative that you can find out more about at their website.

This is where YOU come in. Capri-Sun Sunrise is giving away a $250 VISA Gift Card right here.

Unfortunately, mornings are not my cup of tea so I’ve found that preparation is the key. I try to get as much ready the night before and be organized for the next day. While it’s not perfect, it helps to make things slightly less hectic.

I like to plan breakfast the night before.

Our morning routine means hubby waking up half an hour before I get up. He starts the coffee pot and gets everything sorted, then keeps the rest of the family on track.

If he’s ever ill, the house grinds to a halt!

My husband likes to wake my up in the morning when he goes to work, but i sitll have an hour to sleep…needless to say i am grumpy in the morning. to prevent this, i give him a quick kiss and say i love you and he leaves faster so i can go back to bed…does that make me a bad wife? :-/

Don’t you just love mornings? The dog has to go out, 2 babies need their diapers changed, 2 school-agers are starving and running around packing their bookbags…how do I keep things organized? I don’t. I’m still learning, but one thing that really helps us, is packing lunches the night before. So as long as they remember to get them out of the fridge, we’re good to go!

I don’t have kids YET, but the issue I’ve always had and still have at times is just time. There never seems to be enough. Some mornings go more smoothly and that’s b/c I’m moving quick, but when you just want to go back to bed, it can be a bit tough!!!

I have a difficult time waking in the morning, that is my downfall to morning routines! I love to sleep in, so I try to have all of the kiddos clothes laid out, as well as quick breakfast, such as muffins, biscuits, etc.

I lay school clothes out at night and get up and help my kids with getting ready and they either eat a bowl of cereal or a cereal bar and sometimes if I have 5 minutes scrambled eggs. In my area the grade school kids (all of them) get free lunches in their classrooms.

I don’t really have any tips to share. Part of my morning routine is to have cold cereal and soy milk for breakfast, feed the baby and take him out for a walk. Thanks for the giveaway!

The hardest thing about mornings is facing the alarm clock on too little sleep. Coffee is a must.

I don’t have any kids, but am usually running late for work. I only live 4 minutes from work, but somehow still manage to be late (and can’t use traffic as an excuse!) I’m always looking for easy breakfast ideas and since I’m still a kid at heart, this looks great! Thanks for the give away!

I never leave myself enough time in the morning – im always rushing! I always lay my clothes out the night before and usually shower before bed to save time but i still feel rushed (i can hit snooze one more time right?) . Usually as im walking out the door one of the cats reminds me to clean the litter box. And then i notice the garbage full or a basket of clothes needs to be put away.

I am the Queen of doing things the night before. I pack lunches, have the kids shower/bathe, gather papers, etc. Our mornings are peaceful and smooth.

Plan the night before, or create a “menu” list on a clip board so the kids have a limited selection for breakfast. Have them pick before bedtime so you know what to fix and hit the ground running.

  21. Mary 03. Jul, 2009 at 9:42 am #

I always prepare my children’s breakfast while they’re still asleep. That way when they get up, they can eat right away and get their energy up.

My secret is to have every single thing out and ready the night before. I am big on organization – hubby was a military man and taught me well! Kids have to have it all out or we would never get out the door on time.

  23. Laura S 03. Jul, 2009 at 2:55 pm #

No kids in the house here, but I still have a routine. I get up at 5:30, have coffee while I check emails, feed the cats, pack a lunch and I’m off to work at 6:15.

My morning routine issues? #1 is that I don’t want to get out of bed, haha, followed by #2 – my fiance doesn’t want to get out of bed either! I guess you could say neither of us are morning people. After that the hardest thing is keeping us off our computers before we have to leave. The internet takes up so much of people’s time, ours included!

I work 2nd shift so most mornings it’s like zombie-land here when the alarm goes off. My daughter is almost impossible to get out of bed and get moving in the morning. You’ll usually hear “C’mon Danielle, get moving” at least 20 times. Last year, we were late to school so often she had to serve a Saturday detention. This year was much better, I started getting up 20 minutes earlier to leave enough lag-time in the morning. Even so, it’s hard for both of us to put a move on it in the morning.

I try to get up about a half-hour earlier than my 2 children. That way, I can make breakfast and it is waiting for them. That makes things easier. Plus, I can get some of my own stuff done too during that time.

My issue is that my boyfriend works overnight shift so that puts us on a weird schedule. I try to get onto his schedule but by the time he gets home in the morning I’m grumpy from being tired. Other than that we eat breakfast, maybe watch a little tv and then its off to bed until mid afternoon.

I have 4 kids, ages 3 to 15 who will all be in school this year so I have to be organized. My tips –

Do as much as possible the night before – baths, clothes ready, backpacks loaded with homework/gym stuff

Exact bedtimes per age and requiring my kids to get up when it is time in the morning is crucial. Taught them this from early age.

Keep shoes, coats, backpacks, school papers in organized ready location.

Eat breakfast after getting all the way ready so kids can relax a bit chat and watch for the bus.

Keep breakfast quick and healthy – instant oatmeal, toast, cereal with fruit or smoothies. Save the big pancakes and eggs breakfast for Saturday mornings.

    Blessings

We don’t have kids so our routine is pretty relaxed. Especially for me since I work from home :)
My morning tip would be to get up earlier and do some pilates/yoga workout first thing after getting up, you’ll be surprised how everything will be much easier after good exercise :)

We get up relatively early. SHower, dress and then meet in the kitchen where breakfast is served, we eat in the living room and watch news and then it’s off to the day’s adventures.

I’ve never been a morning person so I try to prepare as much as possible the night before. Clothes, coffeemaker, shoes, papers, lunches – if I can do it the night before, I do!

my kids have swim team every morning, so getting them fed and ready each day can be a challenge.

  38. A. ElBialy 07. Jul, 2009 at 12:39 pm #

I have trouble with simply getting up!!! I often sleep through one alarm so I have to set a second back up alarm. One thing that helps me sleep a bit longer is that I cut up a batch of fruit the night before and throw it in the refrigerator, and the next morning I throw it in the blender along with some milk and yogurt and I have a very quick smoothie, so I don’t have to go through the breakfast routine. Thanks for the giveaway!

Mine is an attempt to get up before my daughters to read in peace or do yoga. They are early risers, however — well, at least two of them — so this is not always possible. But I try!

  40. Kathleen 07. Jul, 2009 at 12:40 pm #

Our biggest issue would be getting our daughter to sit down and eat breakfast in the mornings. She is the type to not want to eat right after she gets up so it’s a hassle to get her to eat before school and whatnot. Thanks.
